WCCCD Uniforms, etc.

Published

Does anyone have any idea how much the uniforms cost for the WCCCD nursing program? I'm starting in the

Spring of 2010, and I was trying to figure out how much money I should expect to spend on uniforms and

supplies. Also, does Financial Aid cover all the tuition and book expenses? Thanks for any advice given.

Congrats! I'm starting in the spring as well. :yeah:

Okay, so for the Financial Aid portion of your question. Financial Aid is based on your EFC, the information you reported to FAFSA, and determined through the school. So basically you have to look at how much your were 'given' (most of us would have different EFC's so it's hard to say whether or not all of your books/classes would be covered). Since it is based on an individual's reported information, I really can't say whether or not yours will cover everything (I know mine won't).

They will give us an info. packet at orientation stating what we need. I have a couple acquaintences who started the program recently (well, one is in her first sem, the other her third), and they both have given me some insight (I'm still digging for more info though!). I was told that we have to have the med scissors, a watch with minute hand, stethoscope, bp cuff, and I think a few more things (I can check). Also, for lecture, I was told that you have to wear gray sweatpants (plain) and a plain crew neck white t-shirt. I do not know if this is teacher specific so I wouldn't run out and buy anything.

I know we are all anxious (:roll) and very excited to get 'all of the scoop' so I'll try to leverage my contacts for more info. LOL!

I cannot wait for orientation so that we can finally know all the specific details!!!

Hey cheska rn2be,

Thanks for the reply and my EFC is 0 so I get the max amt. so I was hoping that it will cover it all. Congrats to u as well!!

for lab white crew neck short sleeve t shirts

any color sweat pants (no stripes or writing)

uniform top and pants 30 dollars

badge 6 or 7 ( i may be off just a few bucks )

name tag 7

white shoes (35 but thats up to u could be cheaper or higher

thats all i can think of for now but good luck to u and congratulations.

if u have free time before the spring STUDY YOUR MEDICAL MATH!!

besides that just prepare yourself mentally and physically

Thank you Blessed 2830! How many hours a day do you suggest i study my medical math? I had Med. Math in the summer and got a 97%. But unfourtunately i don't recall much of it. i do have the notes and cards i made for the class. Is an hour a day enough?

Don't get too crazy with the studying because you don't want to burn yourself out before you've even started. Just know your formulas and remember your conversions and you should do fine.

Also remember that you will most likely want a few sets of uniforms depending on how often you do laundry and ironing. Some opt to send them to the cleaners because they hate ironing. It needs to be clean, crisp and pressed , and trust me with all of the germs you will be excited to get home and take them off and get clean.

Ah, and real quick about the shoes, make sure you get a nice supportive pair. All white of course. But make sure they will be supportive when you're standing or walking for 6 hours straight.

Thanks CR727,

good advice!

I hate ironing too!

Thanks blessed, your info has helped a lot :specs:

All I can say is I'm on my way to get my uniforms while I still have the money to spend and right now its going to be ok to spend the money to prepare for the program in January but once I go down to part time, while in school, it's going to be ramen noodles for me :)
