Hey, Just an FYI I went to the NW bookstore today and they did not give me two of the books on the list, the kozier study guide and the med-surg companion. I grabbed my schedule instead of the book list at orientation (which was dumb) and assumed (even dumber) that they gave me all of the books I was supposed to have. Just thought I'd let everyone know :) Because now I have to go stand in that ridiculus line again.
Oh and I'm thinking on selling my nutrition book back, but maybe I should keep it. Any opinions?
Oh and another thing I didn't go to the nursing office because by the time I got to my car with the 2 heavy bags of books I didn't feel like walking back in. the snow didn't help motivating me either :). I will go tomorrow after my class. but did anyone go today?

I got my books at Western today, and the woman getting the books didn't get the Kozier or Med-Surg study guides at first, but did ask if I wanted them - which, of course, I did. In total, I got eight books: "Nurse's Handbook of Health Assessment," "Understanding the Nursing Process," "Medical-Surgical Nursing: Patient-centered Collaborative Care" (two volumes), Med-Surg Nursing study guide, "Fundamentals of Nursing" (two books), and the "Fundamentals of Nursing" study guide. (They ran around $470, I think?) I also had to go to Downriver, and I grabbed some bandage scissors, penlight, tape measure, and a nifty-looking Med-Surg Notes pocket guide. And, of course, a bajillion pens, notebooks, etc.
As far as Nutrition goes, I sold mine back long ago (I had it... spring 2008, I think?), but I'd have probably kept it, had I known it can apparently come in handy.
Didn't go to the nursing office myself. Just didn't have time. :\
Hey everyone!
I went and got my books at Western yesterday as well, and ended up with a total of 8. I hope they are the right ones. LOL! It sucks because you can't really match up the ISBN number because they put the sticker over it w/the school bar code on it. Of course I'll worry that they are they wrong ones until we get to class. I don't want to open the packages, and them be wrong, and not be able to return them.
I did not get a chance to talk to anyone at the NW campus either. I was going to call, but have not had a chance w/work and finishing up this semester.
Hopefully I (or one of you) will get a chance to do so before they close down for winter break.
Oh, and @ Cayles1102 -- I kept my Nutrition book only because I could not sell it back (I took it in 2007, and they went to a new book the following semester). So much of the information that is in the book we can find (easily) on-line, that I don't think it'd be a big deal if you sold it back.
The only books that I can think of that we really should probably keep are our Patho and A & P books (and the Med Math one, but that's a given.)

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to return them even if they are wrong. When I bought mine yesterday, I was told that "right now, all book sales are final; no returns."
I just took another gander at the list and compared the titles to my books, and I didn't get the clinical companion, either. I mistook the SG for a companion, when they're actually, apparently, two totally different things. I searched for the ISBN # for the companion, and it doesn't look at all like any of the books I have. Oy. No time to head back to Western today, but I might be able to swing by tomorrow.
Has anyone gone to the uniform/supplies place (can't remember the name - the one on the price list page)? I'm planning to head there today to get my pin, name tag, and patches. I might also get the pleated top/pant set there, but I want to check a few places online first. We don't need them until clinicals anyway, do we? (Not planning to wait that long, just not in a hurry.)
