U.S.A. Michigan

Has anyone applied to Wayne States Second Career Nursing Program? I can not make it to he information sessions and I am wondering if anyone has and could give me some information?

I went to one of the meetings, basically its everything thats on Wayne's website. If you have any specific questions I might be able to answer them. Technically I have applied to the program but they do not consider you until your application is complete (all pre reqs MUST be completed by June for the following fall semester to even be considered).

I am in the traditional program (started last fall) and the admissions process is exactly the same for both programs. If you have any questions about that I should be able to answer them since I"ve been through the whole process. If you have any questions about classes or the program I should be able to answer them too (I LOVE the program!) I have friends in CD2 as well (traditional and CD2s have classes together first semester and just leave us slowpoke traditionals behind after that). So what did you want to know about the program?

I know some one that has gone through the program and said it was great. I just need to get my transcripts to the nursing school and see if all my classes will transfer in. If not then I will have to see what I need. Undergrad admission was talking I would have to take almost all my classes over again. If school of nursing tells me that I will not apply again. I will do another program. I am looking at out of state colleges now.

I would really love to go to Wayne State. It is my first choice but I am not going to take all my prereqs over again.

Thanks and good luck with the nursing program. I hear it is a great program.

You can do a quick check at

You can pick your school and see what classes will transfer to wayne and their equivalent. It's not a complete list though and Wayne state will have to evaluate the classes from your current college, but it might be a helpful place to start. As long as it's an accredited school (like a community college, a state university, or a private college that's not a for profit kind of place) I can't see them having a problem with transferring your prereq credits in. I know they're picky though about the chem has to be organic and biochem (not just organic) and the micro class MUST have a lab (all sciences must).

Good luck and send your transcripts right away to be evaluated so you know what prereqs you still need!

Thanks a lot for all the information. You have been a great help.
