U.S.A. Washington

Greeting everyone,

I'm among one of the applicants for SONUW of Fall2007. Is anyone else out there wandering around this forum?

Proctored Essay dates are of Feb 20 and 21st. Did anyone receive an invitation for it yet?

I'm anxious and waiting for your news. Thank you.

Best regards & sincere to you& loved ones,

H.

Greetings again everyone: any updating regards your application? Thanks

Greetings again lc3 and Lisa,

First, I'd like to greet Happy Holidays to you all. It had been once exceptional long week since I was invited. I'm tapping my fingers and screaming in my head that I'm going to write the proctored essay.

One thing that bothers me is my hair & dressing, should I get a haircut prior to attending the session? I never had paid attention to my own look but I had prepared everything in my own abilities to become a nurse. I thought by getting proper suite & a haircut would show respect to staff & other applicants. May I just wear long shirt, khaki pants? I've no suite at home.

Please give any suggestion that you have. Thanks so much & Happy Lunar New Year (which is similar to Thanksgivings).

Best regards & sincere,

H.

Heip,

Just dress casually. There is no need for a suit or haircut. I think regular black pants are fine. It is just going to be a big lecture hall with several other candidates writing an essay. Its pretty informal just prepare for the proctored essay, they wont judge on appearance just as long as you dont come in sweats or anything.

Good Luck,

LC

I've to ask that question because Tuesday is usually the day I collect donations from different areas and drive them to value village stores. Of course, I wouldn't want to look dirty nor messy.

lc3, thank you so much for your quickly respond, you just made me happy again with at least 3 times helped me ease my feelings & excitements.

Best regards & sincere,

H.

I'm just excited :monkeydance:

Hi Guys,

Just wondering how was the proctored essay?

I'm not in the BSN program at UW, but I know a lot about their admission policies. My BFF graduated from their program also. I did my undergrad there as well.

Greetings LC3,

The proctored essay went very well. This year the essay emphasizes on conflict of patient and staff & action in role as a nurse, the essay lasts 1 hour. I went to write on Tuesday and about 80 other writers were present so I figured it would be more on Wed. I'm now relieved from such anxious and stress moments. I had other things to do as well as continue living my happy life. Once it approaching April 15th, I'll be looking forward the news fron School of Nursing again.

Thank you so much for your posts LC3.

Best regards & sincere,

H.

Good luck guys! I was one of the few males there on the 21st of Feb writing the essay. This is my second time applying to UW, so I'm crossing my fingers this year! :nuke:

Good lucks to you too, Ebouster. I'm also one of the few males on Feb 20th session. I'm so happy to see more and more male students interest in nursing. My background, experiences, with my passion for nursing brought me to nursing while I've friends whose are nurses&providers at hospitals/clinics to support me.

I've plans ahead: either in nursing school for Fall2007 if accepted or going to Asia on one of the medical missions.

However, does anyone know any particular medical mission to Vietnam that I'm unawared of? One of my goal being a nurse is that I can join some medical missions especially those would utilize my skills as a nurse and my bilingual skills. I knew KFV (kidsfirstvietnam - locally in Bainbridge) but I can only donate and not join their missions.

I got accepted into the program!!!! I can't believe it!!!! I hope that you guys get as lucky as me, and I hope to see you guys in orientation. I'll probably start this summer so that my work load won't be as much during the year. G'luck guys.

Hi Ebouster,

They notified early. Did you get a letter or an email? My friend hasnt heard back yet.

I got a letter in my mailbox, not e-mail.

unfortunately, my application was denied. earlier, after getting off work, i went to goodwill and my mom called with the sad news. whoa, it's disappointed but i'm so glad that i have made it thru the essay. maybe i'll have more time to do something else for now while getting ready to re-apply next round.

good lucks to you all.

thank you.

That sucks Hiep! Well, your not the only one. My friend didnt get in either. She is really bummed.

But, hey atleast you know now and can plan accordingly. Not the end of the world. I also didnt get into UW's masters program and I'm on the waiting list. Nevertheless, I did get into several other MSN programs so my ego is not totally destroyed. UW is an extremely competitive program, but there is always next year or a plethora of other options out there.

I actually advised my friend to look at accelerated BSN programs. I told her to just finish a BA in something and pursue the acclerated BSN route. If you plan it out right, it would take the same amount of time instead of waiting until next year.

Good luck Hiep!

And congrats Ebouster! Very competitive program to get into and I'm very happy for you.
