WANTED: Tips and advice

Hey everyone,

My first day on the floor was last night. I was wondering if those of you who have been working for a while can give me any advice you may have learned so far within your first year.

Specific questions:

SHOES: My feet hurt like HELL. I need to invest in some good shoes.

Scheduling: Ill be working night shift. Should I schedule all my shifts in a row?

Sleep Cycle: Do you all adapt to the night shift sleep schedule or do you go back to norm on your off days?

Any advice about anything is WELCOMED :-)

I liked having my 3 shifts in a row because I enjoyed having the same patients for all 3 nights. It makes the second two days a little easier. After that 3rd night shift you will sleep ALL day though. lol.

What kind of shoes are you wearing? I like Sketcher Shape Ups with the non skid bottom.

MJB2010 I am wearing regular nike sneakers that Ive had for years. Unfortunately my nursing shoes comfy shoes disappeared when I moved. Not that I wanted to wear those white boats anymore lol...but they were comfy at least.

Thanks for the advice. I will be working 2 night shifts and picking up one other shift or my choice (day or night)
