Memphis Hospitals:
Baptist
Methodist
St. Francis
Regional Medical Center (The MED)
Delta Medical
VA
Which one is the best to work for? Anybody you ask will likely tell you a different hospital when they list their favorite and worst. If I were to guess, I'd probably pick Methodist.
Base pay I do not know.
The best place to live IMO would be EAST Memphis. FAR east.
http://www.gomemphis.com This is part of Memphis' Commercial Appeal newspaper and you can likely see there how much housing costs. Rent is going to be anywhere from very little to very expensive depending on what you want and most of all the location.

I can't answer the money questions because I moved from Memphis a few years ago, but family is there and I know you can rent a nice place for $600/mo or thereabouts. Look in Cordova or Bartlett. Germantown and Collierville are more expensive. If you work downtown there are plenty of high-rises and some apts. near Overton Park (zoo & museum) that overlook a beautiful wooded area. As for hospitals, you have MANY to choose from, some downtown and some in the suburbs. I worked at LeBonheur, a pediatric hospital, and part of the Methodist Health System, and can recommend them. You might contact a headhunter to narrow your search. Memphis can be a fun town. If I move back I will shoot for the downtown area to be close to activities I enjoy. Something always going on at the river.Good luck in your search!
