jcaho agrees?

i found that hard to believe, because every time we have a jcaho visit, no less than 3 full pages of new, necessary documentation :angryfire is put on nursing.

but wait, there's more! they even wrote a position paper on the nursing shortage! it's old, it's redundant, it's long, but considering the authors, still worth the read. here's the link. (the portion mentioned in the title is on page 29.)

nurse staffing crisis

the joint commission held two roundtables on this subject—the first in november 2001 and a follow-up roundtable in march 2002. a symposium on the nurse staffing issue was held in may 2002. the white paper, "health care at the crossroads: strategies for addressing the evolving nursing crisis," published in august 2002, and is available on the joint commission website. jcaho will work with its nursing advisory council, a coalition of nursing advocates and associations, to pursue implementation of the desired actions identified in the paper. a second national symposium on nurse staffing issues has been scheduled for september 2004, in washington, d.c.

Talk is cheap, as they say....and JACHO does their fair share, by talking out of both sides of their mouths, while demanding more and more documentation in the meantime.

I am glad I no longer have to deal with these hypocrites. They are just another money-making machine, in my opinion. :angryfire
