Military nursin
1 Post
I m a 31 male nurse with an associate degree in nursing (7+years) work experience. Currently, I m a full time student in an MSN/MD program. I never did my bachelor in nursing, however, I m doing a RN to MSN bridge program. I m expected to graduate next March with my maters in nursing informatic. I m also in the 2 end year of the medical school. I want to join the military as a reservist to serve this nation, but not sure which branch. I m not looking for no sign on $ or loan reimbursement, but I m concern with being unable to cont my medical school if joined. The clinical portion of medical school (3rd and 4 th ) can be in different states, depending on what locations will be available at the time and I know that as a reservist u will be assigned to a unit and u have to show up for your monthly training. Being in a different state won't make things easy. I can always request to be sent to the same hospital for the last 2 year of medical school but there is no grante.
Here are my questions:
should I go army, AF or navy?
What are the chance of me being pulled out of medical school by the military for oversea deployment?
What rank should I expect to receive ?
How difficult is it to be a reservist and medical student at the same time ?
What are the commitment length of service as a reservist?
What should I expect to happen to me, once I finish the medical school as a reservist ?
What is the difference between the flight nurse and critical care nurse reservist in AF?
I spoke via chat with the AF reserve, not much help! The lady in the chat room tells me that AF need flight nurse and critical care nurse reservist. She was not very clear with her explanation but told me I have to a phone interview with AF and if I meet the requirement, then they will put me in touch with a nurse recruiter. In the civilian life, a nurse with MSN would be a manager to instructer, but apparently in AF u go either as a flight nurse or critical care nurse.
thanks,
