Joined this forum because I need some help or inspiration on how to go back to school while working full-time with no support system plus I have one child. There's no way I can quit my job since I'm the only one working and I can't get any help from my family. Mom passed away 7 years ago and I lost contact with my dad who's a deadbeat with a drug problem. The mother of my child also passed away while giving birth to my child, and I burned a bridge with her family with them because of my medical decision when my daughter was born with complications and the doctor asked me who to save either my wife or daughter. I chose my daughter because that's a scenario my wife talked about and we both agreed to if anything were to happen at birth and with my luck **** happened. Its really me and my daughter against the world at this point. With me, I'm working this full-time job that's just ok, but the benefits are the main reason I need it specifically the healthcare for my child. I've always considered nursing and was able to get my BA in biology 7 years ago and due to poor life choices it never fell through. But now that I have a child I want to do better for her. I don't have any friends on top of this because I lived as a loner for a majority of my adult life and supported myself. I'm just ready to make a change and am so tired living check to check and worrying about providing.
Nursing is something I've considered in the back of my head but I mainly want to pursue it now due to my new found perspective. The compassion I saw with the nurses in the NICU who cared for my daughter when my daughter was fighting fort her life and survived her illness really left an impression on me and I want to pay it forward by helping save lives the same way. I feel I can do anything because of my daughter and what she went through but I'm not sure where to get started and how to make it work. I've been looking at Accelerated BSN programs that are 18-21 months but again can't quit my full time M-F 8-5 job due to being the only supporting myself and the health insurance of my daughter. My job also has a childcare center and that's how I'm able to go to work. I just want to throw my story out there and see if anyone was able to get through something similar or just get any ideas, thanks.
