I am in nursing school and will graduate in august of 08 (hopefully) and I would like to be a flight nurse eventually. I have been a paramedic in north carolina but i have let my certification lapse. I have an associate degree in Emergency Medical Science. Will this help me any at all? I worked as a Paramedic for almost 2 yrs and loved it just decided that i would like to take a break from it and my certification expired before i knew it. I love to fly and love critical care. If anyone can give me some information, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been a nurse for several years and am currently a flight nurse. I would highly recommend you to check with the flight service you are considering and see if they have any part time positions - to get your foot in the door- and what qualifications they require. As an RN any exprerience you can get in ICU or a trauma centers emergency room will benefit you. The paramedic training you have is a great benefit but add to it with critical care nursing. Also take any courses your hospital offers for advanced trauma, critical care nursing and take all the ACLS, ATLS, NALS, PHTLS, PALS you can take.

Get your medic back through some type of re-entry (even of you have to take boards again!). Do some part-time work.

I think the paramedic background paired with several years of high end ED/ICU experience is an unbeatable combination. The dual cert will help "set you apart".

I am General trained nurse and having 8 yrs of experience in the faculty. Wish to perceive my career as flight nurse because i like challenges and flying.If any one come across with the requirement please let me know.
