Want to apply to LSU SON...Any advice?

U.S.A. Louisiana

how is everyone...posted this in the thread above but wasnt sure where the most appropriate place was...figured i give this thread a try...

i just had a quick question. have been asking around and cant seem to find a good answer. heres my situation...i started my college career at loyola where i was an international business major. it wasnt for me to say the least. I had a horrible gpa (1.9) after 2 years. I decided to take a year off to decide what i really wanted to do. I decided to take my nursing pre reqs...and loved it. managed to get a 4.0 in my two semesters. my goal is to apply/attend to LSU SON but im sure my gpa from Loyola and from DCC (2.6) will stop me from getting in even if i have As in all of my pre reqs (have a 4.0 from DCC). my two transcripts are polar opposites. I am really excited about going into this field and hate that my GPA from Loyola in an unrelated field will stop me from pursuing my BSN. does anyone know how much weight LSU puts on your GPA outside of your pre reqs? i know their minimum GPA for admission is a 2.8...does anyone who has applied/been admitted to LSU SON have any advice. ive been going a little crazy thinking about it and the people ive spoken with in the admissions has just given me the runaround...

will they consider my gpa from dcc where i took my pre reqs and loyola seperate? or will it be considered as one entire gpa?

any advice would be appreciated...

If you're counting any of your Loyola classes as pre reqs, only those ones will most likely be counted in there. As an example: I had an overall GPA of 3.12 for my first bachelors degree but when I looked at my GPA upon entering LSU, it was 3.81 - the only way that was possible was for them to have only counted my pre req grades.

This is how they did it for me but I can't speak on how they might change things from semester to semester. You might want to speak to someone in admissions to get the final word. Good luck!
