Walden University's Online AGACNP Program Review

Published

Hello,

My name is Chris Garcia and I am looking into doing Walden Universities Online AGACNP Program. Has anyone ever done their online NP Program? I have read mixed reviews and want an honest opinion. I know one topic that has been discussed in the past is finding clinical sites and preceptors. I am more than willing to work hard to find those. How hard was that process? If you were unable to find a preceptor or clinical site were you delayed or rolled back? Also, how was the other aspects to the program? Did you feel confident when you were done that you could pass the board after doing some test prep? How confident did you feel working as a NP after you finished the program in total including the clinical? Thank you for your help!

I took each of those classes one at a time, while I worked full time.

Specializes in Critical Care/Rapid Response.

Thank you Bluefamily!

you are more than welcome.  I have finished all my classes and I am waiting for the graduation and certification exam!

Specializes in CVICU/CCU/MICU.

I want to do the acute care NP route since I work in critical care, however, I also want to eventually end up in a cardiology clinic. Will the acute care NP Program allow this or is it best to do primary care NP?

Hi everyone! This is my 3rd semester with Walden in the FHNP program but this is my first time with a subject like Advanced Pathophysiology in the program. Has anyone taken the midterm or final exams with Walden? Do they use any test taking program with virtual proctors? What is to be expected?

Any information would be so helpful. Thank you!

I started at Walden in 2013.  After reaching my second year in the FNP program, I was forced to change my program to Acute Gerontology, because I could not get into a pediatric office for clinicals.

The first issue with Walden was the requirement to sign the next quarter's  preceptor during the first week of the current quarter.  This caused me to have to sit out a quarter.  They lost some lawsuits over such rules, and changed the rules, but did not inform me.  Because of the lack of enlightening the students, I struggled by worrying about the class I was in, while also trying to get the next preceptor to sign everything in that seven day period.  They wouldn't let you do it before that first week or after.  They changed it to giving you the entire quarter to sign the next person.   Sometimes the preceptor would be unavailable.  Preceptors would quit on you and you would have to pay the $4,000 fee even if it was a day past the first week or so.

They tried their level best to keep you from graduating.  I would have went quickly through but eventually had health issues and had to stop for a while.  I was informed that it had been ten years and all my credits are nolonger good.

A lawyer told me a few years ago that he could get me all my money back, but I would lose my credits.  It was because of the lawsuits.  I refused, because I had worked hard to get that far.  I only had three clinical rotations to finish.

So, no I wouldn't go to Walden.  I know some people that had no issues and even did two clinical in one quarter.  If you don't know a bunch of NPs then go local.  NPs don't want to help unless they know you.  I am looking at Ohio University.
