Hello,
I just posted this on one other forum that I've been reading pretty regularly while I am waiting to find out about my Army Nurse Corps application which is at the Review Board.
I thought it might be appropriate to share here too, especially so since this has me and my recruiter baffled.

Hiya,
While I am waiting for my application's third board review, (rejected first time due to improper application, the second time passed over no reason, third is underway now) I sent for Air Force Nurse Corps information.
Not wanting to spin anyone's wheels the "guy" is going to call back after the Holidays when I know what happened at this board but, he told me some helpful information.
The Air Force recruiter guy mentioned that, 1-they are very interested in MSN students, (not sure about msn entry but, he was encourging), 2-they are full up on their new nurses for the Nurse Transition Program until after September 07 and he thought that maybe that could be the Army's reason for passing me over and 3- that I would indeed qualify for the Active Duty Air Force even at 41 y.o. upon graduation and sitting for NCLEX-RN.
The Army nurse corps is my first choice but, I would gladly go for Air Force too, (they were only not on my radar due to my three cats...I can make arrangements if I need to and have friends/fosters...

Okay I am going to continue to try to wait patiently...

Gen,
This is a goofy question but as a cat lover with a kitty who thinks she is a person I just have to ask-
Why would the ARMY be better than the AF for you and the three cats?

Ha,
Not a goofy question at all.
The only reason I thought it would be easier in the Army is because there are less OCONUS bases than with the Air Force.
I dunno, I figured that since I 'knew' the training for the Army and I do not know about the Air Force then I would be better able to make arrangements for where to kennel or temp foster my cats when I go away for training and so on. Also, I didn't plan on taking my cats with me, initially, overseas and it seems like there would be greater 'chances' of going overseas in the AF.
Also, the Army has veterinarians on bases and as I read one poster say she was able to start her cat on a six month's quarantine, (pre-departure) before she left for another country. I am not able to easily find any information online about life for an Air Force nurse, officer training or residences or medical centers as easily as for the Army, so the AF is a big mystery for me, the lifestyle, the schedule, the area to work and so on.
If it is a big mystery for me, then I cannot make arrangements for my cats. I have no family to rely upon and the classmates and friends of mine I would want to reserve their offers of help so as not to burden them left and right.
What are you thoughts?

I still have my fingers crossed for you, Gen!
Thank you JaxiaKiley,
The wait really feels long. When my recruiter finally told me about being passed over the second time he said he had went back and forth with the Board for two weeks seeking a reason and he wasn't given one.
So, I am not really sure what going before the board a third time, without changing anything on my application, could do.
I wanted to re-apply but to change my bonus from the loan repayment to simply the bonus and to re-do my letter of interest because it still had the word candidate on there and to also change my general course waiver and so on...I was advised to leave it as it is and proceed.
Not knowing what it is or why they passed it over is also disconcerting too. When I spoke with the Air Force recruiter he mentioned that the AF would like a MSN entry nurse because they recognize and push for the CNL. However that is VERY similar to what my Army recruiter said. He and everyone at the Army Nurse Corps who has heard of my application is equally surprised at the board passing it over.
So, if the AF recruiter was right that the AF has enough new grads until Sept 07 and cannot take anymore for the nurse transition program then it would make sense that the Army would admit it too if that was the reason? Could be because I will be a new grad and not ROTC? I really do not know.
Thank you for the continued encouragement. This is unsettling for me.
I am certain something will will work. AF or Army, the branch that finally gets you will be lucky indeed!
If all else fails in a few years you and I can travel together then take our profits and open up a nursing school in my home in the Bahamas! The cats are welcome!
Jaxia, you, Funnie, Allison and Brie are welcome to!

Hey, because the board is taking so long I am beginning to worry about crazy things. Things like...when I first moved in with the guy I married, my "ex" husband I got an online account and later discovered that while I was at school that he was online constantly looking at the most disgusting "disgusting-type" Media sites! It was my account and we only had one log on name, mine!
When I found out about it I told him not to specifically so because it would hurt me. I was going into a sociology internship at juvenile court and was also concurrently taking a job which required dep child/family services approval. I do not know if he stopped but we eventually divorced. So I am afraid of his near two year reign of logging on while I wasn't home and his "travels" online. UGH!
Let alone the fact that the sites he was viewing were atrocious, really 'bad', not your every day type of 'libido-interest'. Like I said, he became my "ex" there were things he kept hidden from me until we were married.
Gen-as if that would be the reason, I know senseless worry
edit to add: oh yeah, then I am also worried because of how that internship at juvenile court would look because I have a rapid background check from juvenile court as well as background criminal checks by four hospitals and my university all in one year...as if that would be a problem?
