waiting to hear from excelsior

Hello. I'm pretty new to this site. I have been an LPN since 1994. I just sent my application to EC and will wait to hear from them. I need to take micro and A and P and of course NC 1,3,4,5,6 and 7. They told me I won't have to take NC 2. I'm really nervous about starting this program but am going to try my very hardest to pass. Is there anything I should be doing while I am waiting to hear from EC? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I am so thankful for allnurses.com. It was so helpful in my decision to sign through EC directly. Thank you very much. I'm so scared about this big step to obtain my RN.

Congrats on your difficult decision. You can do this! I think a good place to start would be to downloading the first couple of Content Guides from the EC website and reading through them. Then, while you wait you can research the cheapest place to buy our textbooks and buy em. There's a bunch of texts listed. I only purchased just the Brunner & Suddarth's and the Kozier books in the older editions. Then, for the psych unit (NC 5 or 6, don't remember) I asked some nurses at work and one of them had a Psych text from her nursing program from 1994, I borrowed it for a week and it was enough do ace the exam. Don't get me wrong, the exams weren't easy but I think for someone with nursing background there is no need for ALL of the books they recommed, although you may decide to do so. So, in short buying your books is a good place to begin.
