Wait lists in Texas

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi There;

I live in California and am in my last semester of completing the prerequisites for most nursing programs. However, when it comes to applying to actual programs, things become difficult and most programs have waiting lists that can go on for three years, regardless of grades. Are you experiencing the same things in Texas? My husband and I would be willing to move if it meant completing my education in a better time frame. Any feedback that you have as to the climate of programs and education in Texas would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Meghan

I am unsure how they do things there in Cali, but here the programs are not first come first serve. If you get on a waitlist, it does not mean that you will be able to start the program within a time window, it just means you might be chosen for that semester if they have enough students reject their acceptance. They choose the best applicants based off of your pre-req GPA, and science GPA, and test scores. So some may never get into a program, BSN or ADN. Just look at the schools your interested in. They have lots of information available online. Also, since your in Cali, you may need to take some additional history and govt for Texas if your looking into a BSN program. We have some top rated BSN programs here. Not sure what other information you are looking for. Which degree are you interested in? ADN or BSN?
