I recently started working as a Quality improvement/ Infection control nurse in a LTC setting and was curious if I am being under paid for what I do. My daily list of tasks is quite extensive. Not only am I responsible for QI, infection control tracking and teaching, fall tracking in the facility, I also do all the Physicians rounds with them when they are in the facility, which is at least once weekly and sometimes twice weekly (which includes getting all of their paper packets ready), I also draw all the labs, review and monitor all the computerized nurses charting. There are a few small things I am responsible for also. I work Monday-Friday 7-4. If anyone knows what approximately I should be making I would appreciate their info. I was a floor night charge nurse for 9 years and took a big pay cut to take this job so I could work days and no weekends (unless they need me to work the floor) but feel like im being run ragged and wondering if I should go back to the higher paying job.

Have you thought about becoming an RN? I felt the same way when I was a LPN and went back to school and obtained my nursing degree.

I am about to have my second interview for a hospital position in Environmental Safety/Compliance/Infection Control/Quality Improvement. I am a brand new LVN/LPN and I just got hired at a LTCF, which I haven't yet started working. The pay at the LTC home is good but they haven't even told me what shift I will be working yet. I know I will get stuck with weekend doubles and I really don't want to give up church on Sundays. I would rather have the hospital position because of the hours M-F, 8-5 and because of the facility. But to be honest, I really have no idea what all this job is going to entail and whether or not the compensation will be worth it. Would you mind sharing your hourly wage? I am unsure what compensation to expect.
The position is a new position, which will combine 4 job responsibilities that are currently being performed by 4 different women. My first interview was with 3 of these women and, honestly, there was so much information and jargon that I am still quite unclear of what my job duties would be exactly. I believe the 4 tasks are 1)Environmental safety, 2)Compliance, 3)Quality Improvement, and 4)Infection Control. I know there will be a lot of chart abstraction, which I also have no experience with, being that I am a new nurse.
Any insight to any of these areas would be greatly appreciated. I like to be prepared for interviews and a new job by having done my research. However, as of right now, I don't know where to begin. Help!
