VRP Monitoring Program - Should I? Shouldn't I?

I just graduated from LPN school in August 2014. I am on MMT (Methadone) and have been for 7 years. I am currently on a extremely low dose and currently weaning off of the drug. I would like to put a time line on when I will be done with this medication but I feel that puts my recovery at risk. My recovery means too much me to put it at risk. I am hearing so many things about VRP - Pennsylvania Monitoring Program which is voluntary. I have been clean for over a year and have an amazing support system. I see and have seen a therapist for a few years now, no less than twice a month. I'm wondering if I should try for my LPN license without contacting VRP, seeing what they say. It seems the majority of people in VRP have had a DUI conviction, caught with medications they shouldn't, etc. I'm just a girl who had fell weak to a drug years ago and choose life (methadone) over death. I have no drug convictions or anything along those lines. I'm not sure what to do and every time I think about how far I have come and what MIGHT happen (not getting my license) I want to just give up. I don't give up, and I want to do the RIGHT thing. I CAN be a nurse, and methadone shouldn't keep me from being a nurse. I'm currently on Welfare and all I want to do is make life better for myself and my daughter. Anyone know of this situation? I heard that I will have to have restrictions on my license, Ex: Can't be the only nurse on the floor and can't pass narcs. (which I have passed on someone else's license MANY times already). Also, I hear it is expensive which being on welfare I have no extra money to even buy clothes, let alone pay for whatever they require. I have been getting randomly drug tested every month for the past 7 years by a strictly ran program by the state. I feel i'm at a loss.... Help! Advice...please.
