My daughter has been having frequent nosebleeds lately, at home and school. Also, noticed some bruising that usually does not happen. Well, I took her to the doctor today and he ordered PT/INR, PTT, CBC, and Von Willebrand Factor. I was wondering what in the world is that! Well, now I know after Google, anyways, has anyone ever heard of this bleeding disorder?? I hope its the dry air or allergies thats causing the nosebleeds. Also, she is going to see an otolarynologist in April. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

My 78 y/o mother had a nose bleed of major proportion this past weekend and ended up in the ER. Her bleeding time was over 15 minutes. She's always been somewhat of a free bleeder. She had severe nosebleeds as a child and had excessive bleeding after all three lady partsl deliveries. The doctor thinks she has Von Willebrand's. It's easily treated so I'm not overly concerned. My brother as well as my daughter have had several nosebleeds bad enough to have to be cauterized. It is heriditary so if she's positive I'll have myself and my children checked as well as advising my brothers to do the same. I've inheirted Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy from my Mom. She always said her parents we no good and never gave her anything. Well it turns out they did give her several things.
