I am looking for information on how often vital signs are done on a patient presenting for a labor check. Does your facility have a protocol (i.e. VS on admission, every 4 hours, at discharge)? Thanks!

Q4 if stable, not ruptured and GBS-. If GBS positive and/or SROM'd/AROM'd then a temp q2 in addition.

q hour here. Well, temp is q 2 hours unless ruptured. If a mom is admitted in early labor I will ask for an order for less frequent vitals though, especially if it is at night and she is trying to rest (ie she doesn't really need to be here anyway!).
As an aside, our "intermittent monitoring" protocol is 20 minutes out of every hour.

We do a full initial set. Temp Q2 if appearing ruptures, Q4 if not ruptured but labor checks are in triage for 4 hours. I just set BP cuff to every 30 mins, especially if they appear to be in active labor.
