Hi there!
I just started my application for the CGFNS/IHCP VisaScreen program.
It says on the requirement,
Successfully completed a minimum number of clock and/or credit hours in specific theoretical and clinical areas during their professional programs.
I tried searching for the (exact) minimum hours for the topics but I could not find it anywhere. Does anyone know what the minimum requirements are? If I going to be inliigible I dont want to waste $500.
I am typing the topics in-case someone knows the answer (plus for search engine, my way of paying back to this forum :),
Your help is really appritiated. :)

VSC is what is completed after you have passed either the CGFNS exam or the NCLEX-RN exam. If you have been given permission to write one of those exams, then it means that you have enough hours.
Do not submit this application for the VSC until you have passed one of these exams, there is only a one year window to get everything submitted to them for the Certificate.

Could someone please give me some advice on the situation I find myself in? I have applied to Vermont for licensure and my school of nursing sent the transcripts along with a completed (to the best of their ability) VOE. Vermont have asked for it to be completed in more detail as they hadn't filled in each box with hours of theoretical input as these are not detailed on the transcript. I started my nurse training in 1989 and was employed by the hospital school of nursing as opposed to the newer nurse training that is university based. My hours in practice in all areas including medical, surgical, obstetrics, psyche, community, paeds and several other areas are all there and exceed the minimum required hours. I have done the theory but it is not itemised on the study content of the transcripts.
I was advised to apply through CGNFS as they apparently have access to a database that would have details of my nurse training including a break down of hours that were compulsory during the training. After applying and paying out over £300 dollars I find when I printed off the request for my school of nursing to complete that they want the same info as Vermont wanted???
I know I am not the only nurse who completed their nurse training before it was university based and I'm sure not every nurse has transcripts that itemised all the theory including psychology, sociology, microbiology, nutrition, history of and trends in nursing?
Any advice on where I go from here?
Thank you in advance. Jane
The school that you attended should have the breakdown of all of the hours, and this should still be available to you.
I also attended a program that was hospital based, and even though the school is no longer in existance, my records or anything having to do with my training there is readily accessible by me.
You can also try to contact the NMC, as they would also have the breakdown of the hours in their files, or at least they should have. I would start with that.
Suzanne - thank you for your response. I have e-mailed the NMC over a week ago but as yet have not had a reply, as I'm sure they would hold records previously the domain of the ENB, who set the rules as regards theoretical and practical hours.
I know the University say they are working on a new template for VOE in view of the fact that they are now getting more requests for more detailed info, but cannot give me any idea of how long it will take.
I thought I would solve the problem by going down the CGFNS route after being told I wouldn't have to provide all the detailed info Vermont BON wanted - imagine my shock when I find myself back to square one and even more out of pocket!
They said it wouldn't be easy but I wasn't expecting to not even get out of the traps!
CGFNS always wants everything in detail, and will not do a thing without all of the specific requirements of actual hours listed.
Be aware that CGFNS is acting on behalf of the US government and under the rules that they have put in place, not CGFNS' own rules.
There is not going to be any way to get around this. Best of luck to you.
