Published

I'm HUNG PHAM THAI , 24 years old , Vietamese . i've just graduated from the University of Medicine of Ho Chi Minh City, faculty of Medicine . My toefl score is 543 with 4 in the TWE and my academic qualification is over 7.0/10.0 . I want to study NURSING and get BSN in USA . Can i reduce the time of nursing program because i learned some credits in Vietnam ? how can i register ?

Thank you very much for your kind attention to my email.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Welcome to Allnurses.com...........

You will need to attend school for at least two years to be able to get the BSN here in the US. You will still need to complete all of the actual nursing classes, and then it would depend on which previous credits that the school would want to accept from what you have already done. A degree in medicine does not prepare you for being a nurse.

Please be aware that many of the schools in the US have a waiting list even for the American students that are here, so it will not be getting in immediately. You will need to apply to each school on an individual basis for acceptance.

Hope that this helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

If you have been thru med school and grades are good, you will fly thru nursing school with no prob. Apply to many in diff states will increase your chances. Will take you 2yrs at least for BSN. Then work in ICU for a year then apply to crna school. Good luck.

Where was CRNA school mentioned in the original post?

Hey it was moved to the CRNA forum and title FMG to CRNA so dont get on me. If he is an MD then he could transition to CRNA well. If not related to CRNA's then remove it from our board.

I did remove it from your board when I saw it. It was actually posted on a thread that was over one year old. It is now on the International forum. This happens quite a bit when someone is posting for the first time.

And the title of the post was not changed , states Vietnamese doctor wishes to become RN.

Sorry for the confusion. :)
