Very worried pre-nursing student! What to do to increase my chances?

Published

I have 4 Cs on my transcript that is driving me insane. I think about it everyday and wish I could go back in time and do better in those classes because I know I slacked off. I have a 3.1 gpa because of them, my science gpa however is 3.64 (A in micro & physio B in anatomy) I never repeated them. I want to get into a ADN program because I know I don't stand a chance for a BSN. I am currently still taking some classes so my gpa will go to at least a 3.3. However, 2 of my Cs are in statistics and sociology. For some BSN programs those are prerequisites.

I want to go to an ADN program and then bridge, but my college is a lottery system and most of the colleges around here are as well. Some are point system. I have not taken the TEAS yet. Do you guys think if I score at least an 80% on TEAS I might have a chance to get in? or should I give up on my nursing dream?

You can't retake them??

There are many ways to skin this cat. You are definitely not in the "give it up" queue.

Do the ASN and ace everything as if your life depended on it, and you'll have a better chance.

Or take an extra year to take more, higher-level courses, and retake those you slacked off on before.

I wouldn't give up on the idea of getting into a BSN program. Do not limit yourself to the ones near where you are now. Spread your wings. I remember vividly getting my second job out of school in a state thousands of miles from where I got my near-home undergraduate degree, looking around at the local campus, and saying, "Sheesh, I wish I'd looked around more when I was looking at colleges."
