About a year ago, I started attending StLCC in the hopes of being a nursing student. An advisor told me to take biology and chemistry, since I last took those over 5 years ago. I did that and also got a few of the other required general ed classes out of the way. I took the dosage calculation test and passed it at the end of May. I didn't get the results for a month, even though I was told it would only take two weeks. I fulfilled the bio/chem and dosage calc test requirements and go to apply to the program. Right before I did this, they changed the prerequisites! If I had known this, I would have taken those new classes instead of the other general ed classes that aren't needed to get on the list.
Is anyone else in this situation? I know life isn't fair, but this really stinks. I'm in my 30s and don't have time to waste.

My school did the same thing for Fall semester. I had already applied so it didn't affect me but my neighbor said they grandfathered her in since she had already spoke to the advisor & was told what she needed. So I would talk to the advisor. Most schools go by what your catalog says the year you enrolled.
I talked with an advisor and they act like I'm just SOL. I was advised to make an appeal, but she made it sound like that would be pointless because then everyone in this situation would want the same thing. How do I know they won't do this again, after fulfilling their other requirements (which, BTW, seem pretty pointless). I've been happy with this school until this point.
Look at your catalog. That's y they have it, if they changed things in between you are okay under it. It should say it somewhere. Or speak to someone higher!! The advisor who told you to take these classes should own up to her mistake!! My school was telling new enrollees months before they were changing the pre req's. so the advisor is at fault in my opinion.
