Versant Program anyone?

I'm graduating in May and am considering working for a hospital that sends new grads through the Versant program. Is anyone here in the program? How helpful is it for a new grad?

I did end up getting accepted for a Versant residency. We don't start for another two weeks, but I'll be training in the ED. It's an 18 week program with three shifts and one eight hour day of class each week. We've only had an orientation at this point, but it should help with the transition into the "real world" of nursing by having other new RNs to share the experience with. I'll post updates if anyone is interested.

By all means! I just started the application for the Versant program sponsored by one of the local hospitals. I would be very interested to hear what your experience is like.

So you'll working working three 12s and doing an 8-hour class on top of that? Or are your shifts shortened?

I'd like updates too. I'm also interested in a Versant program at a children's hospital in town. Did you find that their pay was less than other local hospitals? Did you have to commit to two years with the hospital? Do you get to choose your area? (I'm wondering about the OR in particular.) Was it competitive to get into?

A local hospital near me just began doing the Versant program. they are offering it in Med/surg, ED and ICU only. it is 18 weeks for med/surg and ED, and 22 weeks for ICU.

This hospital in particular is requiring a 3 year commitment.

Are there any of you out there who have actually gone through the Versant program? i would like to know what the education is like and how your clinical experience is.

I just got a job at a local hospital with the Versant Program. I will be working in the ED (wanted ICU but didn't get it...its very competitive).

I was required to sign a two year contract with no sign on bonus or anything like that. I guess they figure the program is so good, they are actually doing us a favor. I heard the RN recruiter saying that if we will be highly desired for future positions since we completed Versant.

I start Feb 23rd so I will try to post updates on how it goes but it does sound like a really good program 18 weeks, with preceptoring and everything. I was told even after the 18 weeks we will have mentors to talk to. There is a lot of good info on the website (i think its versant.org...i'm not sure). They also said that there will be a "party" to congratulate the new grads that just finished the program and to welcome the new-new grads into the program. I guess there is a pinning involved or a certificate or something. I guess its a big thing for the hospital.

I am wondering if anyone else has other info too since this is really the only hospital in my area with the program and they just started it.

I know this thread is really old, but I was wondering...if you apply for a particular area, like ICU, can you still apply for another area in that same program?
