hello everyone
nowdays i see alot of long term care facilities have a vent unit. isn't it too risky to have a vent unit in long term care, where they are not equipped with emergencies? they do have a respiratory therapists but what are the responsibilities of respiratory therapist?
has anyone here worked in a vent unit? what was it like? what are your duties as a nurse and do you feel comfortable doing it?

i was recently hired by an hospital to work on the vent unit, i was also offered a position to work on the surgical unit in another facility. i graduated last year and this will be my first hospital job. Does anyone know which position will be most beneficial to me experience wise, since i'm palnninig to go for master's program. Also under what class can i classify a vent unit, is it critical care or what... i am so confused will be glad if anyone can answer these questions. thanks
