VCU ICU salaries

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi all. I'm considering moving to Richmond VA from Maryland. Cost of living and the DC/MD traffic is driving me crazy in Maryland. I just interviewed for an ICU job at VCU and I'm hoping someone could kindly share the starting ICU hourly pay. I have 2years Trauma/Neuro step down experience and one year Trauma/Neuro ICU experience. Thank you kindly.

I live in Northern Virginia closer to DC The going rate for Nurses here is $25 an hour for new hires. I'm assuming it may be a little less because Richmond is further south and the cost of living is slightly less. As an example when gas is $3.40 a gallon in Northern Virginia I could find it for $3.09 in Richmond.

Thanks for replying Hpy_Vly_RNBSN. I assume $25/hr is for new grad? Any idea what the pay is for a nurse with 3yrs experience? I read a thread where someone in Richmond claimed they made $29/hr at vcu and I'm finding that hard to believe. I want to negotiate a good pay but at the same time I don't want to ask for an un realistically high pay and end up losing the offer all together.

$29 isn't unrealistic for the area really New Grads in DC start at $28 I would probably ask about pay structure at VCU many hospitals here have ranges of pay for RN1 RN2 RN3 and so on Experience is only part of it There are other requirements for reaching a higher level and higher pay

Thanks. Helps a lot.

Have you called vcu? Most hr offices have a set rate they start all rn's with certain years of experience at

Just interviewed for an ICU position. Hoping they'll extend an offer then I can start negotiating and asking my many questions. I know they have a good benefits package but that's not top of my list.
