VCU CRNA Program

Nursing Students SRNA

Has anyone interviewed for VCU's Nurse Anesthesia Program to start in the Fall 2015? If so, does anyone want to share their interview experience or if they have been accepted for the Class of 2017?

Congrats c/o 2017!! I'm in as well! Anyone at the Roanoke Campus with me??

Hi, roxi,

My undergrad was 3.5, science about the same. They're totally ok with ochem from a community college. That's where I took mine. But I also did VCU's chem and physiology prep courses offered through the program. I worked on a surgical ICU for 2 years. They like large busy hospitals so if you can grab an ICU spot at a big level 1 trauma center or something like that out of nursing school take it. Make sure to make the most of your employment. Apply yourself and learn CRRT or ECMO or another advanced therapy. Good luck! :)

I can't believe we did it!!!

3.6 BS in Cell Biology, 3.9 Nursing, verbal 157 quantitative 159 writing 4.5, research experience with poster presentations, 1.5 years Level 1 CT ICU 3 years nursing experience. I also got my CCRN. One interviewer specifically looked at that. Interviews were pretty relaxed. They really wanted to know about me and what experiences I've had as a person and as a nurse. Then wanted to know how I handled stressful situations or complex patients.

Would it be beneficial at all the prospect of getting in to this program in a few years if I get my BSN from VCU or should I go to a cheaper but reputable school for my BSN? Just using all resources to get opinions, thanks!

Got the call last week in to start VCU-Abingdon 2016... Anyone else out there in?

For those who have already been accepted into the program or who are currently looking to apply, what is your opinion years of ICU experience before applying? And possibly age.

Thank you in advance!
