VAPA New Grad Program 2011

Hey Everyone,

VA Palo Alto opened up their new grad program for Fall 2011. The have specific requirements for the cover letter and resume so make sure you read the requirements. It says they will start calling for interviews in the beginning of September. Good luck everyone

A friend of a friend works in one of the medsurg units and told me they already started interviews. Not sure about ICU/surgery. Program begins early next month. Anyone here get called for an interview yet?

My mom works there and has been talking to the nurse recruiters and they haven't called anyone yet. They said the program is being pushed out because they haven't started the interview process. Before they call anyone they have to send out their certification email, which is the one they send everyone who meets the minimum requirements for the job and I haven't heard of anyone who has received one. I have applied for several VA positions and have always received the cert email. There have been positions posted for nursing that aren't new grads. Perhaps the interviews were for those positions?

I was called and interviewed for a Med Surg spot last week.... The recruiter told me that they interviewed 15 people for Med Surg. The program will start November 7.

No, haven't heard at all. But is it true that they're only considering people for their first choice of unit?

I was called and interviewed for a Med Surg spot last week.... The recruiter told me that they interviewed 15 people for Med Surg. The program will start November 7.

Did they give you any idea as to when you'll hear back? I assume that's when interviews will be done with and the program will be all set for sure.

15 people for one spot? That's a lot of hopes to raise. Good luck. I also heard the rumors of the program being pushed till a later date and wonder if anyone has been officially offered a position yet.

Has anyone heard anything or accepted a position? I interviewed for geriatrics last Friday and am dying to hear back!

I know for one of the two med surg positions, an offer was made this past Tuesday. So as far as I know, this program is going forward Nov 7th.
