Just wondering how often adverse effects come from vancomycin? My husband is on it, and the info I found is not as "people" friendly as it should be. Any info would be nice...

Do you have a drug book for pharm? If so, that would be the best place to look it up (either that or your pharm textbook). In the meantime, here's a link to the medline page about vanco.

As long as the blood levels are monitored, I've rarely seen complications and I have given it a lot over the years. I have seen acute renal failure from Gentamycin a couple of times, so the "mycins" are to be respected. Monitoring of the level of Vanco in the blood, i.e. being cleared by the kidneys is very important. It can be nephrotoxic.
Lots of drugs when you look up the complications and side effects are frightening aren't they?
Best of luck to you husband.
