Vag vs. Lap hyst

What are the benefits of a lady partsl vs a laparoscopic hysterectomy?

We do lap hysts at my hospital. Is one better than the other? Or are there other considerations that would make them do lap vs vag?

Thanks.

Lap hysts provide better visualization and are used when other procedures are done, such as endometriosis removal or salpingo-oophorectomy. A lot of it depends on WHY she's having a hyst. If there are fibroids present, I don't think a vag hyst can be done.

I had a total vag hyst 2/2 cervical CA, and healing was a BREEZE. It helped that I was breastfeeding, and my little uterus was tiny, due to little circulating progesterone. lady partsl hyst definitely is superior on healing time and post-op complications, but I think it takes more skill, and sometimes it's just not possible due to the clinical picture.

We have done TVHs for fibroids, albeit smaller ones. Agreed, they are much easier in terms of recovery and complications.

My mother had a TAH (ovaries left in) years ago and it took her forever to recuperate!! I wish she'd been able to have a TVH but her fibroids sized at about 20-22 weeks so it wasn't happening.

Vag host much easier recovery, not possible in some cases due to size of the uterus, fibroids, tumours, etc etc. There is an immense difference in post op pain and recovery vag vs. abd. We get both and the difference is crazy. Makes sense though of course with an abdominal incision.
