Hi
I am a RN BSN with 11 plus years experience hired as Nurse 1 level 3 step 8. Now I have my MSN . Still NPSB board denies my promotion to Nurse 2. Did anyone have same experience. Please help.
I had a positive experience.
I wrote the paper back in the day, had my BSN and charge RN experience and taught crp on the side, I was hired in as nurse 2 with 2 years nursing experience under my belt. I got my MSN 2 years ago and later got a new VA job as a program manager and just received my nurse 3. For me the process was seamless and worked exactly as it was expected to.
Like all govt agencies the processes are convoluted but you must use them and "play the game" so to speak to get where your trying to go.
I love the VA.
Yep! Would you believe my 2n d level manager a level 4 did not feel comfortable giving flu shots? So the DN did it! Very short staffed! If its like where I was? Its all about money! Performance interviewing? A joke! If its someone they want? Like at least where I was !paved with Nepotism? They skew the results!! Like one person just give them all 10s! And I've even witnessed them going back to make it look better! Jobs USA? Its linked with HR. Seen some shenanagens there also! Really! Not kidding!

Interesting I started with a level 11 with a BSN. Around 6 yrs experiance. The VA I was was different. For my level 111 I listed all my accomplishements. This included all my graduate papers related to that facility! Gets better!
The day before the board hearing I discovered my name wasn't listed! So I went to HR and spoke with the HR employee who took my degree out of the sealed envelope from the university! Oh was she ticked! My degree copy disapeared ! So I took a photo and sent it to the facilities DN. Well I got level 3. Retired level 3 step 8. I never flaunted it but with retention pay, shift diff, holiday pay I was making more than my manager, probably more than her boss!
Certain why they worked so hard to push me out besides whistle blowing numerous times! Don't go to eeoc! Hope my experience whelps! "Management do not have to follow policies". At some VA places they are a mockery! HR does not like to spend money ! :-$
