VA Palo Alto New Grad RN Program- Spring 2014

Hi Everyone! I applied to the VA Palo Alto New Grad Program for the Spring 2014 cycle. I thought I'd start this thread so we could all share our progress through the application process to sort of calm our nerves. The closing date for the application is 2/26/14. Good luck to everyone that applied!

Someone mentioned on the CA new grad FB page that they were reviewing candidates for the IICU. That was on Monday, I believe. Anyone been contacted yet? I just called on Friday so I don't want to bug them again just yet! :)

I am bummed that I haven't heard yet. I selected med/surg & ICU and would prefer Livermore. It looks like something is going on with my application - I got an email today but it just said my application has been updated. Maybe I'll hear something?

Just found this thread, didn't realize the Palo Alto program was so popular!

I just got my NOR today. My first choice was Rehabilitation (Spinal Cord Injury) and my second choice was Med/Surg. Hoping I get a call for an interview somewhere in the next week. I'm living in MD right now, and hope they're flexible with methods of interviewing!

Is anybody else not living in California currently?

When I interviewed for Palo Alto, the manager mentioned that they're only interviewing for about a week and offers are sent out at the end of the month with the program starting May 14. Not sure if this is the same for the rest of the units or locations.

Maqer- I hope you get the position, best wishes! I haven't heard anything either, just receive that NOR notice which sounds like what everyone else got...

Can someone explain to me what the Notice of Results is? My app was reviewed yesterday afternoon and my NOR was sent. I'm pretty much counting the position out now that I haven't gotten a call and others have been interviewing all week.

By the way - I was told by the VA that the decision will be made by 3/25.

My best guess is the NOR is just an indication that your application is complete and you are eligible to be reviewed for the job applied for.
