I need assistance getting a nurse 2. Been a RN (ADN) since 2011, worked medsurg, psych, ICU & floated.. Boarded at VA in 2016, worked same unit (specialty unit) ever since. I work nights so its pretty hard to join committees, etc.. but I'm charge often, orientate new hires on nights, but thats all I can think of besides routine care.. I've been capped as a nurse 1 for 3 years & I'm ready to leave unless I can get a nurse 2.
I start my new job at the VA on Aug 1st as a Nurse 2 and never worked in the VA before. I’m pretty ignorant to the importance of being a Nurse 2 and/or trying to jump from Nurse 1 to Nurse 2. I’m willing to share tips on how I answered the Dimensions of Nursing questionnaire. By the time I was done I had 7-8 pages of answers to the questioned asked.

I just started back at the VA in Sept, but the main thing is to state the facts of the problem, intervention, and solution. You can use the same problem for each dimension. I have included a sample copy of a proficiency as an example for those already employed with the VA trying to get promoted. I hope it helps.
