From the previous posts I've read the VA hiring process is pretty long and drawn out. I've applied to two different VA sites. The VA an hour away from my home I can always get in contact with a nurse recruiter and my application status for two posting says "referred to selecting official." The VA closest to my home, I can't get through to the recruiter, she emailed me back once and the status of all the apps just says "application received." I do know a nurse practitioner that works at this VA site and she tried to give my resume to the recruiter, but I had to apply online.
For those of you that are familiar with the hiring process, any idea what the next step is. In all there are around 20 RN vacancies. The two systems have two completely different online application submissions, how will I know if I've completed the application process correctly, its a little confusing
I've been applying since I've graduated and earlier this year I found out that I was applying the wrong way so those positions don't count. These positions closed in September.
Thanks in advance ?
Need some advise. On yesterday rcd an email from the Va HR stating that the Nursing Services has rescinded their decision to hire me because of my pre-employment physical. I am a disabled VET.. Do you think that played a part on there decision. I do not do drugs, was able to squat/reach hands over head etc. Spoke to the NP conducting my physical about my VA disability ranking, she replied it will not be a factor. This process started for me Sept 2013. Any advise, I reached out to Nurse Recuritor and H.R Specialist for answers currently waiting there response. Any information, guidance is welcome.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am also a service connected vet and I was concerned about my disability as well. I looked at the requirements for my position and none of them would aggravate my current disability. I hope it all works out especially since the NP specifically told you it would not be an issue. The NP is the one who signs the paperwork to clear you.
Hi Morrey,
I just realized you said the NP said your VA ranking wouldn't be an issue. How about your disability. Did you tell them about that?Certain disabilities may keep you from getting a job in the nursing field. One of them is ptsd. If your disability will be further aggravated by your job they will most likely not hire you.
Hello Goal Seeker Happy New Year!..Yes, I did disclose my disability to the NP. The issue I'm having is all information was submitted prior to my interview as part of my employment packet. I called Booklyn Va to verify there was nothing in my profile stating I was NOT able to work. I am seeking legal advise. It seem as if my plea to the Va to explain what was identified in my physical that caused them to rescind their offer has falling on deaf ears..It just seem shady!...
Thanks! Got a call today a R.N position at a state facility. God is good!.. Should be able to accomplish my goal of becoming a NP. The salary is good/benefits very good...Am currently working with behavior children in an outpatient setting....Have obtained advise from a laywer on my next course of action (too obtain my pre-employment physical files) working on that now...Thanks for the support! Wishing you much success!
