Hey,
Does anyone know what the going rate for an RN at a VA clinic in Pensacola pays? I will be moving there as soon as I can transfer into a position at the Pensacola VA clinic. The locality pay is higher at the VA I'm working at now in Houston, TX so I know the rate there will be a whole lot lower. Therefore I'm working on getting as many degrees and certifications as possible before I get down there. I know the VA pays extra for such things. I just graduated with my BSN and will be starting an MSN or MBA program by the end of the year. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks! :)

Hi, I was just reading your post. Sorry I can't help with the questions but how did you get hired by VA? I'm considering of applying myself for Pensacola; however, not sure how the processes go. I just graduated last year and got my license this Nov also last year. Do you think there will be an opportunity for me to be hired by them? Thanks! Hope you reply with some good answers :)
Thank you DJ1982 for your reply. I have been with the Houston VA since Nov. 2001. We did some of our LVN clinicals at this facility. The nurse recruiter would come to our school and try to recruit the graduating students. So getting hired there was fairly easy.
As far as getting hired for Pensacola, you would have to contact the VA in Biloxi, MS. They are responsible for staffing that VA and all of the clinics in Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, Milton, Ft. Walton and I think even down to Panama City. There is a website: www.usajobs.gov where you can check for available jobs. Just enter the job and the zip code of interest.
The Human Resource phone number is: 228-523-5000. For staffing call: 228-523-5780.
Hope this information helps and good luck to you on finding a good position. :)
