Uw Health nurse residency 2016

Published

Hello everyone! I recently applied to the nurse residency program at uw in Madison! I've had the phone interview and have sent my references in. Anyone else applying? I figured we could keep each other updated.

I'm not sure what the GPA requirement is. Do you have a face to face interview and when did you get notified about it if so?

Yea I'm not sure what the GPA requirment is either, but I would assume since you received an in person interview you met the requirment or else they would have not advanced you to the next stage. I received my email last Thursday stating I had been invited to an interview @tink123

I'm currently finishing my application and I'm hoping to apply as well. I'm getting my BSN in central Illinois so I'm nervous about my chances of getting into a residency program out of state.

I believe that they are more focused on getting qualified applicants, so being out of state doesn't mean anything.

Hi everyone! How did everyone's interviews go? What units did everyone interview for? Mine was for the Pediatric OR. Also, does anyone remember what date they are going to make their decision?

I think interview went great! I interviewed for the emergency department. They didn't tell me an exact date. She said that we should know by this week. There may be some units who take longer due to more open positions, so they're interviewing more candidates and those units will know by next week at the latest.

I actually heard back today! Got the job!

I'm sending in my application today for the Summer 2016 program :) any tips for the phone interview?

My references still hadnt completed the evals on Monday and the unit called recruitment asking for them Monday. Hoping this is a good sign :/ Did you get an email or phone call letting you know about the position?

The phone interview is mainly behavioral questions, so just practice. You'll be fine. And I received a call. People who get the position will get calls. Emails go out for rejections.

Hello,

Just an update! I did NOT get the Pediatric OR job but I interviewed for Orthopedics and was offered (I accepted) a position. I think this was a blessing and think this is a much better place to start. I currently work here as an NA and am already so proud to say I work for the UW and am so excited to advance here. It is honestly one of the best hospitals! I am also very excited because my soon to be nurse manager is top notch and just excellent! I could not be more excited to start this new chapter in my life.

For all of you applicants, if you can obtain a job here as an NA before applying or doing the nurse residency I highly recommend it. For my letter I explained why I want to be apart of the residency program and what I had hoped to get out of the program. I highlighted my work experience there and reasons why I would be a great candidate. Just make it genuine, convincing and meaningful. Also, have a few friends review it before submitting it to make sure it is perfect.

I had my phone interview on December 22nd and thought I messed up badly enough not to continue. To my surprise, I got an email from HR asking for an in-person interview with the Hospital Medicine Unit for February 1st! I'm pretty nervous but I'll have the entire month to prepare for this fantastic opportunity. I've yet to step foot in the hospital, but what are some things you guys like about UW Health and the area?
