Hello All! I know it's a little early, but I figured I would start a thread for Summer 2017 University of Washington's ABSN program hopefuls. This will be my first time applying to nursing school and I'm already so nervous! Is everyone busy finishing up their prerequisites and getting their volunteer hours in? I'd like to hear the different places people are currently volunteering/working at to get their hands on health care experience hours.
I started volunteering at Swedish Ballard in the Emergency Department back in March and it's been a great experience so far. I start my CNA classes in two weeks and am hoping to find a nursing assistant job by the end of summer.
How about all of you?

I'm so glad you started this! I haven't had a ton of time to get a lot of hours in (but I'll at least have about 270) because I just recently graduated and moved to Seattle. But I am volunteering at two different hospital's EDs and am working as a CNA at an assisted living. I am nervous that I won't have a lot of hours compared to everyone else but hopefully I'll do a good job portraying that I know what being a nurse means. So nervous! Did you end up getting a job like you hoped?
We sound a lot alike! I was able to get a job at an assisted living facility in Shoreline back in July. I'm only working two days a week the but should have around 200 hours there plus my volunteer hours by the time the application is due.
I've been working on my personal statement and resume but I'm still so nervous to apply. The due date is coming up so quickly!
