UTSW Interview Tips for Residency

Published

Hello!

i was offered an interview for the graduate nurse residency for UT Southwestern in Dallas. Does anyone that's been accepted into this program have any advice?

thanks so much! I'm honored to even be considered.

Congrats! Which department?

I have an interview next week too! Which track?

If anyone has interview tips that would be awesome! This is my first real job interview and I have thought through interview questions, but still don't totally know what to expect. Thank you:)

Hello all

I'm starting the February cohort at UTSW in Oncology. My interview experience was rather pleasant. It was a three person interview consisting of manager, assistant manager and a clinical educator. They ask questions off a list that is given to them by the residency committee and your answers are then scored. Most of the questions were behavioral questions such as Tell us about a time when you went up and beyond for a patient? Tell us about a time when you disagreed with a preceptor or manager? Tell us about a time you made a mistake and what you have learned about it? Also they did ask more general ones like why the unit you choose or what professional organizations you are a part of. If anyone has aby specific questions I will do my best to answer those. Good luck with your interviews :)

Thank you so much for that info! Makes me feel a lot better because I read somewhere that it was not laid back at all and I worried it was going to be a huge panel of people.

Can I ask you how much they pay for a new grad residency? I am not from the area at all and am wondering how comparable it is to where I live.

thank you again!

Hopefully your interview experience will be as nice!

Sure.

base pay - 25.6

differentials - 4 for nights, 5.5 for weekejds

pay raise at 6 months - 1.44, one year - 0.9

I actually came from southern California where new grads get paid between 36-42 so definitely understand

Thanks for all the responses guys! This has been so helpful. I'm interviewing for the Emergency Residency.

When is your interview? Good Luck! Fingers crossed!
