UTA AP online BSN questions

Published

Hello!!! I'm trying to get more info on the UTA online BSN program through Academic Partnership. I recently discovered this program and due to the holidays have not had a chance to really talk to anyone. Anyone who is in the program or is applying, I would love to hear your thoughts or comments!! :)

**How are clinicals arranged?

**I would be required to take the online technical writing class. I have a BA in another field so besides the Intro to Prof Nrsg, Path & Pharm I have all the pre-reqs. I read a couple threads on the writing class and most stated it was hard so anyone taking or have taken this class...any advice would be great!!

**Anyone in the program now....how are classes and clinicals all together time management wise?? Overall thoughts on the program?

Thanks!!

Hi Tejas,

I will start my class with UTA in april 11, Intro. to Nursing; have you finished yours already? If yes, how hard was? Which other classes are you taking now?

Thank you,

Ana

I took Intro to Nursing online in the class that started in Jan 2011. It was extremely easy. You just pretty much have to make sure you don't miss any assignments. I remember there being like 5 due each week - a discussion board post and a "reflective journal" writing assignment due by Wed at 8:00am, another weekly assignment that was due friday by 8:00am I think --it may have been due the same day as the quiz..., a quiz and two discussion board replies (replies to other student's original posts from wed) due by either sunday or monday 8am.

SO... it's a 5 week class if you take it online, and it goes FAST... just make sure you don't miss any deadlines and you'll do well.

Amanda.

Hey everyone...I just finished up Tech Writing and made an A! :yeah: It was really a neat course and I learned a lot! It was simple and straightforward, so as long as you did all the required assignments, you will do great!

I am currently taking Intro to Prof Nrsg and will start Path & Pharm in May. I'm SO excited to see if I was accepted for the Sept class!! :D

Any other Sept '11 appliants??!!

I'm a sept 11 applicant... waiting for these acceptance letters is a beating! I applied to both the on-campus and online classes. Honestly, I'm hoping for acceptance in the traditional program, but I will definitely take either one!

Sept '11 hopeful! I don't think pharm was this agonizing...umm, maybe it was! Acceptance/denial letters go out in mid-May, so now my patience is being tested. Oh, well. Good luck to all!

Yea..some other Sept '11 hopefuls!!! :yeah:

Ok..I have a question for y'all...did you finish all 3 required classes (Intro, Path, & Pharm) and then apply? I am just now in Intro (started last week) and will be taking Path & Pharm in May and now I am thinking that may lower my chances of being admitted. I wonder how many are accepted that are in the classes prior to program start date??!!

I am SO ready for mid-May!!! ;)

@ tejas03:

My advisor strongly suggested that I enroll in the required nursing prereqs by the application due date and to also have all non-nursing prereqs completed before the start of the semester (e.g., January 24th). I pray that this strategy worked! It is not mandatory that the nursing prereqs be completed before the application due date; however, it must be completed, along with all other non-nursing prereqs, prior to beginning Jr 1.

Great thx! I've completed all the non nursing prerequisites and am in Intro now. I'll only like Path & Pharm (enrolled but doesn't start until May).

I have been a LVN for 10 yrs. and have a BA in Political Science from UTA so I'm praying those GPAs along with my HESI score help me to get accepted.

I'm just anxious to know!! ;

Good luck!

Hi,

I am planning to take A&P I at UTA. Do you guys know how is the LAB for A&P classes online? Anybody have done this class at UTA under the partnership program? If yes, please let me know how the labs are performed :)

Thank you,

Ana

Hi Ana-

I took A&P II at UTA online through the partnership and I loved it. Given how some online classes I've taken have been so disorganized and confusing, I was skeptical at first but I have to say, this was the best online class I've ever taken. I had Dr. Frederick and I know she also teaches A&P I. You have to order a lab pack (mine had a fetal pig, sheep heart, etc!!!) but I'm not sure what's in the pack for A&P I. Everything was very well laid out. We had a test every 2 weeks (8 week program.) It was very time consuming, I'm not going to lie, BUT totally do-able (and I work full time.) I got an A, so I would highly recommend this class to you :)

Oh and I'm a Sept 2011 hopeful too! This waiting is the worst, isn't it?? Hopefully we'll all know soon. May is just around the corner :)

Yea...there seems to be several Sept '11 hopefuls on here so that's exciting!! :) Good luck to you all!! I am SO ready for those letters to go out!! lol :)
