Hello! My name is Sam. I am also applying to the Nursing program for Spring 2015! I called them yesterday to check up on my application and they said that they are having some technical problems with all the applications that were submitted last week and early this week. Are you guys having the same issue? I really hope that it does not affect my application!!!!
Hey! I just submitted my application and all of my transcripts are in route to the UTHSC. I have a 4.0 science GPA and a 3.9high core GPA, I take the HESI July 14! I'm really excited about this application process- we find out if we are accepted in November, right? I'm not sure about where to live though, i have looked at the apartments but does anybody know where else students can live? The housing is really confusing for UTHSCH
I'm applying for Spring 2015, 100 hours (was a bio major), 3.92 pre-req GPA, 4.0 science GPA (and 3.76 full GPA, Phi Kappa Phi member, no PBK).
What I'm concerned about with UT Houston is the preponderance of errors in regards to the information provided by their website: no ACT/SAT requirement (despite stating online in one section that there is such a requirement when applying); fee for HESI is $98, not $90; 2 different areas show 2 different tuition and fees; one section says references are needed, another does not even mention it; etc.
I think I have it fairly solid at this point: NO ACT/SAT, NO References required, HESI CT Score required (only mentioned in 1 place out of several where the HESI is mentioned), the correct fees.
Worrisome. Not to mention course equivalency.
For the person asking if you can apply for Spring and Summer: Yes, but both have to be completely individual/separate applications (Per the last Info Session as well as phone conversation with very nice/helpful person). We were told fewer people apply to start in Summer, so it is "less competitive" in regards to GPA.
For the person asking about notification: November 15th the letters are mailed out, per the last Info Session.
For the person asking about housing in the area: I live on the other side of Hermann Park from the school (2 mile walk through the park), 1 block from the park. My rent is cheap for the area at $850/month for a 2 bedroom (no central air). You would do best to look at places on Almeda and Old Spanish Trail, or if you don't mind the dubious nature of the area- across 288 near UH-central campus, which would be even cheaper. There are, currently, 2 places under $600 a block from me: 1 is listing as a room in a house (so a share/roommate, probably 3 people max), the other is a tiny efficiency, but given the area, probably not a bad deal. Try HAR . com and look in the medical/museum district. This is an extremely expensive area to live in unless one gets lucky.
For the person asking about science classes: They are rather specific on those to the point of not allowing much give for equivalency, so follow the transfer guide. Be thankful you never had to take genetics, biochem, or organic chem.
Just got back from my HESI A2 exam:
Reading Comprehension: 92%
Grammar: 94%
Vocabulary/General Knowledge: 98%
A&P: 96%
Math: 98%
Cumulative: 95.6%
Critical Thinking: 900
Personality Style: Kinesthetic/Analytical
Learning Style: Creative/Leader
I have 100% on (2) subsections of the Reading, but a 57% on "Conclusions", so that ruined my Reading/Comprehension score I fear.
Any opinion? Do the subsections matter? Should I retake the HESI? I don't see how the subsections are factored into the Reading Comprehension score (Meaning-Word use= 100%; Comprehension= 57%, Implications= 94%; Understanding= 100%). It's a mighty strange anomaly. Clearly, with such high understanding, implications, and word use, that I am somehow unable to infer the meaning of a passage is more than a bit odd.
Thoughts?

Hi all just thought i start a trend for spring 2015 applicants for UTH. Has everyone already submitted their applications? I am in the process of finishing all my prerequisite this summer. I have only 3 classes left. I will be done with those July 8.. My current stats so far is GPA Overall 3.75 science GPA 4.0. I have not taken my HESI yet. I plan on taking that Aug 9.. I hope that's not too late since the deadline is Aug 15.
