UT Austin Nursing School??

Published

Hi there! im making my way into sophomore year, therefore it's time for me to look into some nursing schools. Im a student at UHD and will be applying as an external transfer student. UT Austin is my #1 because I come from a family of longhorns. As I look at the requirements I get lost by the minute. So if any of yall could help me that would be the best thing on earth. here are my questions:

1. It says on the transfer admissions website that a entrance exam is not required...? is this applicable only to internal transfer students??

2. Do they even accept external transfer students? even with all my pre-nursing classes finished? And since i'm already a sophomore?

3. Do they require letters/resume?

4. What are the general GPA's that are recommended for applying to this program?

Thank You!

Maybe you should call admissions

To be honest with you, UT has become really hard to get in for transfer students since they recently changed the admission system.

1. UT doesn't require any admission exam including both external and internal transfer students.

2. UT requires certain number of UT hours and they are counted towards the points for the point system used getting accepted into the upper division nursing program. Some of their pre-req courses are only offered at UT so even if you finished all pre-reqs else where, you'd need to take certain courses at UT again. I don't know if they actually accept external-transfers but I know it's even super competitive for internal transfers.

3. UT does require recommendation letters AND your resume.

4. Fall entrance is far more competitive when it comes to GPA. They pretty much strictly only look at GPA for fall students. Last I heard, fall semester average GPA was around 3.8. However, Spring entrance may look more into your work experience, and who you are as a whole.

I hope this helped but I would highly recommend contacting their advisor or attend their information session. Their admission policy has changed since I graduated.

Good luck!! Hook 'em!

Thank you so much for this!
