UT AE-MSN 2017

Published

Hi, everyone. I am planning on applying to the ae-msn program this fall. I've read through all the ae-msn posts from '08 to 2016. I didn't see a thread for this year's application, so I'm starting one. Feel free to post questions and comments! :)

Hi everyone!

I've been an allnurses stalker for quite awhile now but decided to actually make an account since I am also applying for the UT AE-MSN program for 2017! I'm applying to the LeaDS track, have finished all my pre-reqs except for Growth & Development, and I take my GRE the day after tomorrow! Pretty nervous about that! That's the one thing I feel like if I don't do "well enough" (whatever that is) it could be a deal breaker.

Anyways, it's good to know we have a forum for this years applicant pool!

Hi all,

I have finished my application. I applied PMHNP... Because dream big :nailbiting:

My numbers aren't so far off the admitted only a bit lower on combined GRE. I am however concerned that not having a master's already will bite me in the rear.

Fairly certain if offered LeaDs I will take it and be grateful!

Finally others to be nervous with!

Hey all.

I recently applied to the UT AE-MSN program as well, to the LeaDS program. I've been reading the statistics through UT's graduate school admissions website and it seems that around 30-50% of applicants get accepted to this program. Does it really make you less competitive if you don't have a masters degree already? ^referring to the above comment

I feel that it's ranked by GPA, GRE, letters of rec, personal statement, and interview...

I was not worried about this until I saw an earlier post about how a lot of the PMHNP track applicants already had master's, I do think it's different for other tracks. I'll happily accept anything, I just had to try for it. Good luck hope to see you there!

As far as I am aware, the scoring process does not factor in masters or doctoral degrees. When I applied last year, I was two classes off from finishing my masters -- when I asked what I could do to improve my application, "Graduate with your masters" wasn't mentioned. Just my thought process.

HI, Y'all!!

I applied for the Leads program! I just wanted to drop in and say Hi and that I am watching this thread. I am super nervous about this process!! We should know about interviews in November, right?

According to past threads that sounds about right! Welcome to the anxiety party and good luck!

Hey Yall!

My name is Christa! I applied to the PMHNP Program this year and I am super excited and nervous. Has any one heard back about interviews yet?

To all those with questions there is some great info on the 2016 thread. My GPA wasnt necessarily the best but they said if they really like you they can offer you a position in LEaDS which is what I am hoping for as a back up!

They also said in the past (per Tracy) they have accepted an individual with a 2.7 GPA for upper level graduate courses (only what they look at). She said the rest of the application was so amazing, it outweighed the not so great GPA.

I am so nervous about interviews though! Please let me know when yall find something out :)

PS

I work at a hospital where a group of ya'll (2016 AE MSN) are doing your psych clinicals and I have spoken with some of ya'll but I always forget to ask. I have been a bundle of nerves for the past month!

I don't think interview emails get sent out until mid November. I received an email about background checks on Friday, but I think everyone did!!

I am so nervous, too! Good Luck with everything!

Hi everyone!

I'm starting to dive into full panic mode waiting to find out about interviews. I applied to LeaDS after discussing with Tracy, and deciding that's where I want to be. I'm so nervous. Anyone else feeling the pressure all of a sudden?

MK

@MK - most definitely. I really thought I'd feel better once it was all out of my hands, but I think I feel worse! I just want to know one way or the other. Is anyone applying to other schools?
