Hey everyone! I'd like to work with the Indian Health Service or Bureau of Prisons, and seek a commission with the United States Public Health Service. However, I am on a stable dose of MAOI for depression the last two years, which has literally saved my life. Just want to gauge my chances here, what would say the likelihood is to get a medical waiver to stay on medication while commissioned with USPHS? Thanks so much!

It's going to be tough and I doubt they will even want to attempt to apply for a waiver for you. USPHS is already really competitive...full military benefits with no deployments. There are already more applicants than slots, and many of them won't need any waivers. You might have more luck in you are in a high need job (PMHNP). The only way to know for sure is to contact a recruiter.
