Dear Nurse Beth,

I used to be a cam model and I am worried that it will show up in a background check and prevent me from getting a nursing job once I finish my RN license. Will it show up on a background check if I don't include it on my resume?

Dear Cam Model,

Webcam models, also called cam models,  entertain customers through a webcam. While you no longer do it, information stays on the internet forever, but chances are good it will not show up on a standard background check.

Employers for the most part verify employment  listed on an application, and do not spend time and money to dig up employers not listed, although they could through your Social Security number.

Nurses are held to a higher standard than other professions and the BON/BRN in your state may specify that applicants must have good moral character. Typically this means have no felony or other criminal convictions. Since you did nothing illegal, let's hope it never comes up.

Best wishes,

Nurse Beth
