Forum for any and all discussions about the upcoming nurse transition program selection board for the USAF in 2012

Hi all!

Whew! I'm glad I found this specific thread as I have been creeping on Allnurses for USAF Nursing info for quite some time. I have been getting my application together for the July boards as well! I just graduated in May with my BSN and all of my classmates have already started their RN jobs so I am really hoping this all works out for me!! It's funny how everyone's recruiter mentioned different slot estimates as mine said 47? Who knows where that came from! Anywho, the only thing left I have to do is my CN interview and of course my recruiter is conveniently on business for the rest of the week. We will see what happens!

Everyone keep me updated so I have fellow New Grads for emotional support :)

Hi Longboarder,

No news on when the interview is (I'm assuming before June 19?). How about you?? I am going for the physical this Friday!

Oh I know, I'm trying to get mine done next week but who knows.... I already did my physical, which wasn't as bad as I thought but I wish my recruiter told me more.

Ps: I'll let you know if I get my interview and how it went....

I'm also sure I bug my recruiter more than most just to get this all done on time

Welcome to the forum catee! Glad you found us...

Keep us updated :)

I had my CN interview. It went extremely well, at least I think it did. Some interview advice would just be yourself and know why you want to join the Air Force. Know that it is a lifestyle not just a regular job. That's really the main points we went over!

I found out I do need 1373's (argh!) and so I am working on getting those together, just need 1 more. My recruiter did inform me that any application that is deficient will be able to be completed by July as long as they get the initial information!

I wish everyone the best of luck in the boards!

Glad to see many new people in the forum! :)

Has anyone heard if their app has been sent down yet?! All my recruiter said is mine is at the "boss level" and will be sent out soon.

Not knowing one way or another is killing me! I'm sure everyone feels the same way. Good luck

Mine has been sent.

Mine has been sent as well...only came back with one mistake from the quality control people and that mistake has been fixed and my application should be good to go for the boards....Glad the application is done, but still feeling very anxious to find out the results. Only a month and a half to two months until we find out!

Just heard from my recruiter, and my application is in San Antonio! All we have to do now is wait!

Hey Everyone,

I'm glad I found this forum! My packet is also in San Antonio and I have my CN interview next week. Has anyone heard how many applicants and slots there will be this year?

Good luck to everyone!

Hello hello! I'm glad I found this board :)

My application was just sent in and I have my interview July 2nd!

A little about me since some of you shared:

- Graduated Spring 2011, BSN

- Have my RN

- No paid work experience :( But I do have a TON of volunteer experience with the Red Cross (immunization clinics and a certified disaster nurse), medical staff at a kids diabetes camp, and an RN at a free clinic

- 3.6 GPA overall

- Did a 150-hour preceptorship in the ICU

- Have BLS and ACLS, and a ton of continuing education

- Have leadership experience from nursing school

- 23 , healthy and extremely active

- No prior service (but I have a lot of family in the military)

- No waivers needed

I'm incredibly nervous about this because I have been searching for a job for over a year and have had 5 interviews at other places, no job offers. I really hope that this is what my life is leading to. I've been interested in the AF for a while now! I've been waiting quite some time for this! I hope my application isn't too bad because I had to rush to put it together. I ran into a couple of complications with the recruiter being gone and his replacement was having some issues...and then some additional issues with MEPS -- ugh. Oh well, it's almost over now!

My recruiter told me that they are taking 40 new grads this year with about 200-300 applicants... sounds like the same odds of getting into a nursing school here in California! He also told me that he only sent out 27 applications for the Northern California Area (Bakersfield and up to the Oregon border and a couple of counties in Nevada).

Congrats on your interview, tashacorinne! I have my interview next week. I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be. I had to interview with a Brigadier General for one of my letters of recommendation and he asked a lot of the questions I hear the CN will ask. I graduate next May with my BSN and I am really hoping my packet goes through this year. Did you choose OB or Med/Surg?
