So, fellow serious applicants, how is everyone going with the process? :) Aren't our packets due in June? I had my interview a week ago, and from what I have been told by my recruiter, that is really the last thing we have to do. What about everyone else?

CVA311, it's going pretty good - I'm working on getting my interview scheduled, and like you said that is really the last part I have to do. Yes, our packets are due in June - I can't remember the exact date but I think it's around the 19th. I'm definitely ready to have the interview done because it seems like the most difficult part of the process. Other than that, I'm starting to get a little nervous about getting selected because it seems like there are a lot of applicants for not very mant spots.

How did your interview go?

I'm starting to get a little nervous about getting selected because it seems like there are a lot of applicants for not very mant spots.

I'm really nervous too, but I think that's natural :). My interview went super well, thanks! It could only have gone better if my recruiter had confirmed the time with the Colonel I interviewed with. He wasn't expecting me, but it still went amazing. My advice would be to make sure that your recruiter confirms your interview time, and make sure that he/she sends your resume over. (the Colonel didn't have one, and I am still thankful I brought one). It couldn't hurt to bring your resume, just in case. He said he usually asks a lot of questions about the Air Force values and mission, but since my husband is enlisted he said he didn't need to ask. So try to memorize the values and such. The Air Force website has them all posted with explanations, and I found it helpful.

I hope you get it scheduled soon and that It goes really well for you!! Best of Luck!! :)

Yeah, I'm almost done. My recruiter told me today that we have a few more papers to sign but that's it. Also, I asked her if she knows how many applicants for sure she will be submitting to the board...she said 7 if all goes well. I don't know much about the other 6 other than half of them still haven't been interviewed. Anyway...still plenty of time for them. Man I hate waiting :(

Is anyone applying for the Health Professions Loan Repayment Program? I just got the application and it says that in order to be eligible we have to be selected by Aug 1st. So either they will make the selection decision before August 1st, or none of us will be eligible for the HPLRP?

I have my interview Monday and then that is the last big thing. Then a few more papers to sign I would imagine. Also, signed up for the NCLEX in a couple weeks so that is exciting and it will be nice to have that finished. I'm not applying for the HPLRP, I barely made it w/o taking any loans out and skimmed by. I echo the statements of of not enjoying waiting. I need to find a temporary RN gig to help fill some time or go on a major vacation.

Good luck with you interview tomorrow SLC2012! I had mine last Thursday - went pretty well, although there was one question I wish I would've answered differently...and of course, I thought of the perfect answer for it when I was driving home from the interview.

I also agree with everyone else that waiting is horrible! I thought I would feel more relaxed/relieved after the interview, but now I think getting done with the interview made me feel even more anxious to know the results! Now that school is over for the summer, I have 3 months until school starts again, so I don't have anything to do but stress out about the Air Force! If I don't get selected this time, or after the next NTP board, I might just enlist in the Reserve while I get some civilian nursing experience after graduating and then apply as an officer/nurse again somewhere down the road...I've already been through 5 recruiters and 4 years of waiting, I just want to finally get in!

And, CVA311, I'm not applying for the HPLRP either...I do have loans, but just went with the 4 year option that included the bonus instead of HPLRP.

Thanks UCAFblue. Just got back from my interview and checked in here. It went well and was pretty laid back. The CN just asked a few questions about physical fitness, deployments, and family's feelings on pursuing Air Force. Mainly, he shared a lot of experiences about his career path in the Air Force and the went on a small tour of the base. I imagine the anxiety with waiting will just keep creeping up and up.

Asked the recruiter again about # of spots and applicants he is working with for the NTP board. He said from his info that they are taking 19 med-surg spots and 6 OB spots. As of now, he is working with 12 applicants for the board but hinted at little things coming up that keep dwindling the numbers. I keep thinking of how awesome it would be to be in the Air Force so hopefully it becomes a reality. Finished up signing and initialing the last few papers today.

Back to the original question that I never answered about grades, experience, etc.

- 24 years old, no prior military service

- Graduated with BSN May 2012 with NCLEX pending, soon to be certified.

- Overall Nursing GPA of 3.93 with cumulative GPA of 3.7

- 2 Years of Work experience as glorified CNA on med-surg unit with capstone done on med-surg unit as well. Interests lie in ICU's but pursued med-surg due to Air Force starting in med-surg or OB w/o prior experience.

- Various leadership and volunteer positions held throughout academic career

- Various academic and workplace awards for academic/clinical/work performance

- Can't shoot straight with my Beretta pistol but they don't need to know that

Once again best of luck to everybody! I keep telling myself the decision date will be here before we know it but right now it feels so far away! Need to find an RN job to fill the downtime and make some money!

Hey everyone, I just met with my recruiter today to finish up signing everything...we talked a little bit about how many people the board may be accepting, and he mentioned that he had heard that it would be between 60-100 people, which is much better than the 25 that everyone else has been hearing, so hopefully what he heard is right! Also, he said that he currently has 32 applicants just for the upcoming NTP board...which isn't making me feel any better about my chances!

I like the 60-100 a lot better so hopefully that is the case. 32 applicants is crazy from one recruiter! Do you know how many states they cover?

I think my recruiter covers all of Colorado (which is where I'm at), Wyoming, New Mexico, and then small western portions of Nebraska and Kansas...so it is a wide area, but still, 32 people is way too many for one recruiter...

Yeah I'm applying for the loan repayment too. I asked my recruiter the same question ecause I also saw the date about being selected by aug 1...she told me that we'd be fine and not to worry about it. She said that the loan repayment is aligned with the fiscal year, which runs through October and that the board will be finished with all of the paperwork by then. Hope she's right lol!!
