I am a med/surg RN with 8 years of experience. I would like any/all information I can find about working in the UK; work visa, best places to work, direct hire to a specific hospital vs agency, required steps, housing, cost of living, salary and any helpful information anyone can provide. Thank you for your help.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Starting point would be getting the NMC sorted and there are a few threads in Nursing Registration on the requirements. Then check out Borders UK for work permit advice and then look at Asda, Morrisons and Tesco for a rough idea on food prices, petrol (gas) is expensive. Public transport doesn't always operate at times shift times start and finish. Housing costs will vary depending on the part of the country you live in. Salary I would suggest checking out RCN payscale 2016/7 on google search and nurses start on Band 5
