US Nurse Seeking Work in Scotland

Published

Hi everyone,

I’m a US RN who has begun her application to work in the UK through the NMC. I took the CBT for the second time yesterday and passed it, but I received an email from the NMC forty minutes after I got my result that my application had expired. Does anyone know if because I passed before the application expired, will it stay open once the NMC processes my result? Or if I have to start a new application, does my pass result transfer? I don’t want to have to take this exam a third time, especially since I passed it :( I’ve emailed the NMC and am awaiting a response, but was wondering if anyone on here knew. Thank you!

Hi there,

I am wondering what ended up happening for you and your application? I am also a US RN who is trying to work in Scotland (I am already in Glasgow) and have been struggling through the registration process.

Did you manage to continue your application, and have you had any success finding work in Scotland? Hope to hear some good news from you!

Alaina

Hi Alaina,

That’s great you’re already in Glasgow! Sorry to hear you’ve been struggling too though. The NMC got back to me about a week after my original post and corrected their error, so my application was kept open and I didn’t have to retake the CBT. However I’m still in the stage of collecting and sending my documents and I haven’t attempted the skills exam yet, plus I’m still living in the US.

I’m curious, what issues have you been facing? I hope it all works out for you!

Morgan
