US LPN to Toronto LPN has anyone had this experience or have any idea

Published

I have my license as an LPN from the States. My LPN program was just one year certificate program. I migrated to Canada and wanted to register with CNO but i was refused registration, that i am supposed to take some classes, may be for a year, take RPN exams before i could work in Ontario. I went to Alberta and my Certificate and license was accepted without taken the LPN exams in Alberta. I am now registered with the College of Licensed practical nurse of Alberta. I have been working now for more that a year since i got my license and make $34+/hr with my 7 years experience. My husband will be going to school next year to become an xray technician, and wants that after his schooling we should move back to Toronto since is where we have most of our friends and is also close to the US where we have lots of Family members. My question is, if i finally move back to Toronto, am i still to take the RPN exams and go to school for a year? Will CNO exchange my Alberta license to Ontario without me taking the Lpn exams? . Any info will help. Thanks in advance

I think the CNO education criteria will still be a barrier to becoming registered in ontario, but the best people to answer this are the CNO staff.
