I am in dire need of help. It would be helpful if someone had a similar situation & had advice for me.
I am attending North Seattle College working on an associate of science DTA, I will complete the degree in March 2023. My science grades (Human Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2 & Microbiology) range from 2.0 - 2.2. At the time of these courses, I was dealing with a lot in my personal life & unfortunately it affected my GPA (currently 2.84). I was interested in applying to Seattle University for their BSN program fall 2023 (application due December 1st).
After meeting with a transfer advisor, I feel confused, she was not very much help. She told me applicants utilize the section to explain low grades, also because I repeated two courses I cannot repeat anymore & that was it. I just want to know in reality do I even have a chance at getting an interview?
I started working on my essays but & feeling very depressed. Please, anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,
Although I am not in a similar situation as you, I still wanted to reach out to give you some encouragement. Be positive! Believe in yourself! Don’t rob yourself of an opportunity because you are afraid that you might not be good enough. Go for it and put your all in. The worse that can happen is nothing changes. Remember that grades are a factor in the decision making process but it is not everything! There are a variety of other factors including extra-curriculars, clinical experience, leadership skills etc. like most application, there is always a section to explain any extraneous circumstances. Utilize that section to your advantage to explain why your grades were a little low. What you did to pick yourself back up and what u did to improve your grades for all the other classes after that. Keep going!! I know you’ll become a great nurse one day. Best of luck to you!
